Today was the day! This morning at 10:00 AM I started hanging Collection of Recollections which consists of 20 watercolor paintings. It was overwhelming at first, but once I got started things just fell into place and by the time I had hung my last painting the knot in my stomach disappeared.
It was so strange to hang up something that I have been working on for two years. Now it is finally coming to a close and that is bittersweet. However, it is mostly sweet.
Thanks to a carefully mapped out plan I made yesterday afternoon I was able to explain to others my vision and was able to map out the wall very quickly. It actually came in very helpful as it will be used as a label during the show.
Hanging my show did not take as long as I expected. Because my show was planned to be salon style, I did not have to measure a lot. This saved TONS of time.
My capstone defense is scheduled for Wednesday evening and I am feeling confident about that.
Some of the other artists and I were talking about the “feel” of this year’s show. The large majority of the artwork in the show is bright, colorful, busy, and happy. Perfect for a spring exhibition!
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 26, 2014 until April 4, 2014. The opening reception and artist talks will be on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. The Gardiner Gallery is free to the public. The information for the gallery is below.
The reception is on Thursday! So excited. Now….to get ready for Capstone tonight, defense on Wednesday, and find some time to clean house before Thursday. It is going to be a good week.
If you are in town, stop by the show…you will most definitely find something that you enjoy.
