The Monthly Ollie: Volume 1

Monthly updates are pivotal when you have babies-why else would everyone ALWAYS refer to their child as “so many months old” or purchase those oh-so adorable monthly photo props? We will be no different. I will use Ollie’s monthly birthdays as a good excuse to take a very staged photo, put her in something adorable, and possibly make something decadent and unhealthy for her lovely parents.

Monthly age references will stop at “12 months” though. I am desperately going to try to keep myself from referring to my daughter as a 43 month old….you have to draw the line somewhere.

Each month I will bring you (and try to get it out on time), the “Monthly Ollie”, which will be a probably lengthy monthly update on the adorable little girl who has taken over our lives…in the most loving of ways, of course.

***Friends and family who are wanting these Ollie updates can look over to the right of this post and find a way to input your email to receive blog updates through email instead of social media or just happening upon the blog.***

Ollie’s first month has been a month of learning.

Everyone at our home has been learning something, or in many cases, lots of things. From learning to nurse to figuring out how to go about our new type of day, we have been busy challenging ourselves to many new things.

You can read about Ollie’s first two weeks here and here.

Ollie’s been thriving. At her last weigh in she weighed 9 lbs 9 oz, a big difference from her birth weight of 7 lbs 13 oz. She has definitely been growing because she is no longer able to fit into newborn outfits.

Month 1 Ollie Facts

She LOVES being in the bouncer.

She takes the best naps in the mornings.

She really loves to eat and eats a lot.

She doesn’t enjoy being held while you are sitting down.

She likes to go on walks in the stroller.

She is getting very good at holding her head up during tummy time.

She crashed a date night at 3 weeks old…and did pretty great.

She has been sleeping 3.5-4 hours at a time at night.

She loves being swaddled or being in her sleep sacks.

She has her daddy wrapped tight around her finger.

She is learning to enjoy bath time.

She met the puppies and could care less about them…for now anyways.

She can focus on objects (no more crossed eyes!).

She knows and can follow the sound of mom & dad’s voices.

She enjoys listening to music.

She falls asleep instantly in the car.

Month 1 Mom & Dad Stuff

We are definitely head over heels about Ollie.

We are constantly surprised with how alert she is.

We have not broke out the pacifiers!

We are so glad that nursing is on track to being successful.

We can’t wait to see how her personality unfolds as she grows.

We are not sorry for becoming the parents who flood newsfeeds with pictures of their baby.

We sometimes give in to extra cuddles just because she is crying.

We are anxious to see how she takes her first bottle in the next few days.

We are figuring out our “new normal.”

We LOVE family time with just the three of us.

We were a tad bit nervous about how Ollie meeting the dogs would go.

We are doing a whole lot of laundry these days.

We are learning that our relationship is changing to be better and closer than ever before.

We are THANKFUL for all of the encouragement, prayers, assistance, and visits from our wonderful friends and family over the last month.

It has been a great month for Ollie and a great month at the Cavin house. If you are on Facebook or Instagram you can follow our adventures regularly by looking for #olliejujubee.

Until next time,

Mrs. Cavin

For those of you not on social media, here are some photos from Month 1 of Ollie.
