The Monthly Ollie: Volume 8

***Friends and family who are wanting these Ollie updates can look over to the right of this post and find a way to input your email to receive blog updates through email instead of social media or just happening upon the blog.***

Ollie’s eighth month has been a month of progress.

This month seems to have been full of movement and transitions galore! Ollie is not exactly crawling yet, but that sweet girl can get wherever she wants to be with a few flops, scoots, and rolls. She just about has crawling figured out though…then things will get interesting! She has transitioned into her new carseat, that, barring it getting broken or recalled, will be her seat until she is legally allowed to sit in the actual seat of the car. No more infant carrier for us! We have also switched up her stroller configuration and she is quite the fan of getting to face out of the stroller.

Ollie is a curious, stubborn, and very independent little 8 month old. We are extremely blessed parents.

You can read about Ollie’s seventh month here.

Month 8 Ollie Facts

She LOVES playing with her wooden blocks.

She is taking two, two hour naps a day.

She is getting a little better about getting “off schedule”.

She belly flops, scoots, and rolls to her desired destinations.

She is NOT a fan of the sun…at all.

She is able to sit up in the front of the shopping cart without any wobbles.

She loves her independence and hates any sign of cuddling.

She will carry on a conversation of grunts, squeaks, and sounds with you.

She eats lemons without wincing.

She turns into a real monster when she is hungry.

She has been sleeping from 7 PM to 6 AM each night.

She has started wanting mom or dad to be in close proximity at all times.

She love to use her straw cup, and has figured out how to throw it to express her dissatisfaction.

She loves visiting the church nursery and Spontaneity to play with other babies.

She instantly starts soothing herself to sleep when she is placed in her crib with both Bullet and Olivia the Pig.

She loves playing with kitchen gadgets while mom cooks and does dishes.

She LOVES to watch videos of herself or look in the mirror for long periods of time. So vain.

She smiles instantly when she sees or hears mom or dad.

She is very ticklish.

She can somewhat clap her hands when she is excited.

She has started to splash like crazy in the bathtub and usually likes to play until ALL the water has been drained.

She is still wearing 9-12 month clothes.

Month 8 Mom & Dad Stuff

We can’t wrap our minds around being the parents of an eighth month old!

We enjoy carry on conversations with her.

We love seeing how she interacts with other babies.

We love trying to build block towers before she topples them over.

We are excited to start giving her food combinations as opposed to single food purees.

We still enjoy parenting a screeching pterodactyl, although she grunts a lot now too.

We never get tired of seeing her smile.

We are excited for her to start crawling, but she seems to get into things we never give a second thought to.

We are still not sorry for becoming the parents who flood newsfeeds with pictures of their baby…

We love that we have had several successful outings with no breakdowns.

We are always learning more about her personality.

We love time with just the three of us.

We are excited to watch our baby grow and develop into a more curious and intelligent little being.

We are THANKFUL for all of the encouragement, prayers, assistance, and visits from our wonderful friends and family over the last month.

It has been a great month for Ollie and a great month at the Cavin house. If you are on Facebook or Instagram you can follow our adventures regularly by looking for #olliejujubee.

Until next time,
